Hearts at Home Conference Reflections

Monday, November 9, 2009

It was a great weekend at Hearts at Home, Rochester, MN. I spoke in the morning keynote session and Dr. Kevin Leman spoke in the afternoon. He's a nut and always wears the craziest socks.

If you were there this weekend, of if you attended one of the other Hearts conferences this year, what are one or two takeaways that you can share with other moms?

<3 What a weekend! I'm still playing catch-up around the house after it was left to my dear husband (he did his best!), but the extra housework was well worth the pearls of wisdom, the laughs, and the tears I had at the Hearts at Home conference! Thank you!

Two insights that stand out and will stick with me:

    1. The most important book to read with your family is the Bible. AND, "we cannot give what we do not have," so our children should see us digging into God's Word. (Rachael Carman's "The Family that Reads Together")

    2. While it is utterly important to serve our community (both near and far), our FIRST ministry is with our very own husband! (Juli Slattery's "Finding the Hero in Your Husband")

I'll be back next year, and at your request Jill, I'm telling five mom-friends about Hearts at Home, too!

I have never attended a conference but would love to sometime! I have been enjoying your blog and gave you an award. You can head on over and check it out if you have time!

I have gone to the conferences for the past 7 or 8 years and loved it everytime I've gone! I'll miss it next year not coming to Mich. but I will look forward to the next time me and my mom friends can go again. I love the Go Fish Guys and Dr. Kevin Leman was a breath of fresh air as well. Oh and not to mention Pam and Bill Farrell, what a hoot! Men are life waffles and women are like spaghetti :) I LOVE HEARTS AT HOME!! Praise Be To God!
