I always try to have a book or two going. I particularly love to read fiction, but I’m also drawn to biographies or memoirs.
Over the holidays I read two books I really enjoyed.
First I read Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy. This is the true story of the tragedy that happened in the fall of 2008 at an Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania when a gunman killed five Amish children and injured five others. While the book tells the story of what happened, the focus is on the forgiveness response of the Amish community.
This is a powerful book that has really caused me to think about forgiveness and grace.
The second book I read was Sarah Palin’s memoir Going Rogue An American Life. I don’t usually get into the biographies of political figures, but this one intrigued me and I’m so glad I read it!
While there were a few times my eyes glazed over from the political terminology, for the most part I loved reading it from the perspective of “one mom to another.”
I’m curious…what have you been reading?
I am finishing "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editong My Life" by Donald Miller and recently read "Same Kind of Different as Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Both are excellent non-fiction books. Very inspiring.

Haven't read it yet, but can't wait to get my hands on the new marriage book by John and Stasi Eldredge called "Love and War"!
I'm reading Same Kind of Different as Me, as well as The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (fiction, recommended on Cindy Sigler Dagnon's blog). I'm loving both!
I finished Guernsey Literary (mentioned above), A Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs, and am in the midst of The Unlikely Disciple. I'm interested in Same Kind of Different (mentioned above). Finishing The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for an American Literature class I'm facilitating. Enjoying all for very, very different reasons.
I am just starting Sarah Palin's book! I am looking forward to reading it!
In Dec I read, "The Christmas Sweater" by Glenn Beck and "Don't say I didn't Warn you" by Anita Renfroe. Anita's book was hilarious!
I'm almost done with John Piper's This Momentary Marriage. The best book on God's view of marriage I've ever read. Definitely recommend.
Just finished Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay. It is an amazing and hard story to read at times and is based on what happened in 1942 when French policemen worked with the Germans and rounded up 1000's of Jewish families who never came back. A must read. I never really knew about this part of history. We must remember………….
"Same Kind of Different As Me" I loved. I give it as gifts now. Currently, I am reading "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I am almost done…it's great, hard to put down.
