my parents had been divoreced for many years and then remarried to other people when i was young too. so, my step dad has been a dad to me for a very long time. to honor both my dads- i had my step dad walk me 1/2 way down the aisle and then met my father there and he escorted me to the alter to give me away to my hubby. i loved my wedding.

I had the same wedding colors as my mom - light blue and silver. I was so glad I did that. I actually only did it because I could not, for the life of me, come up with any colors on my own. But it turned out so pretty!

My Grandmother let me wear her mother's cameo brooch. I felt so special. She wouldn't even let my mother wear it! At the reception, I pinned the brooch back on my Grandmother and gave her a hug and kiss. She cried.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this year. In retrospect it is the pictures that you treasure forever. I was leaving this up to the photographer, now I realize that it should be the wedding couple requesting the pictures taken. Only they know the most important guests in attendance. As we looked at the pictures to display for our anniversary party, I thought of loved ones that were missed.

you must be having such fun! planning a wedding can be exhausting and enjoyable at the same time...enjoy it while it lasts, it will go by so quickly!

i remember sitting at the reception and just staring. staring at everyone that i loved (all 200 of them)in one room together celebrating us. that is the only time in my life all of the friends and family that mean so much to me would be in the same room together. it gives me tears thinking about it! remind your daughter to just sit and stare for a few moments, have a look around, and ENJOY! stopping to look is one of the best things i could have done that day!

1. We used my parent's cake topper for our wedding cake.

2. Instead of lighting the unity candle, we decided to have a foot washing ceremony after communion to symbolize our first act of service to each other.

I wore a delicate gold cross with a fragile gold chain that was a gift from my grandfather when I was 14. He was very ill and weak for my wedding so wasnt able to come. Still tears me up.
