Q&A Day: What Couples Devotional Do You Recommend?

Starting today, I’ll be offering a new feature on my weekly blog.  Each Wednesday will be Q&A Day. I spend a good portion of my time each week answering questions that moms ask over social media about marriage, parenting, living with less, faith, and more.

I’ve decided that if one person asks a question, it’s likely a question other people also have. Each Wednesday, I’ll share one question and its accompanying answer here in the blog world.  My hope is that my answer is just the beginning of gathering the wisdom of others.

Each week, you will have the opportunity to also answer the question in order to share your wisdom or your experience, too!  We can learn so much from each other!

Dear Jill,

My husband recently said that he would like to do a weekly devotion with me. First of all, yay! I love that he is taking the lead I have been waiting for. Secondly, he asked me to find the book.

Do you have a recommendation for a couple’s devotional?

Dear Julie,

That is great!  I’m sure there are many moms who would like to know how you got your husband to be willing to do a devotional together…but that’s a question for another day!

Here are some devotional suggestions for couples for you to check out:

The Love Dare Devotional

The One Year for Couples Bible

Night Light by James and Shirley Dobson

Moments With You by Dennis and Barbara Rainey

What about you? What other couple devotionals would you suggest?  If you and your spouse do a devotional, how do you practically make it happen?

  1. Jill,
We did a great book a long time ago. It’s called “When Couples Pray Together”. Not sure who it’s by (Lord knows where it could be in this house), but it really did get us talking and most importantly praying together. Great book!

  2. Closer by Jim and Cathy Burns. It is a book with 52 couple devotions, everyday devotions are sometimes hard to swing. This book asks you to set aside 30 minutes once a week which feels more manageable.

    • I’m the Julie who asked and this is the book we bought! The once a week aspect is something we can swing. Just got here yesterday so we haven’t started yet.

I did put all the other recommendations in my wishlist though. 🙂

  3. Our niece and her husband recommended The One Year Love Talk Devotional for Couples, by Drs. Les & Leslie Parrott. We’re enjoying taking turns reading each morning!

  4. We read The Resolution together, one for him and one for her. It took us a year to read it, and it was worth every second!
