Thank you to those of you who shared your prayer requests with me last week. It has been my privilege to pray for you over the past week.
As I pored over your requests, the depth of hurt and pain struck me. There are seasons of life when the hurt runs deep and some of you are in that season now. I’ve been there. I know the hurt firsthand. I’m so sorry for the pain you are experiencing.
If you are in a difficult season, I want to share with you some truth that spoke to me in my hard season. God’s truth is a balm to a broken heart. Don’t run from God in hard seasons…run to Him! He has so much truth and wisdom for your aching heart.
When my husband left one February night and didn’t return home until three months later, I would cry and read my Bible in bed. Then I would lay my Bible on his pillow. God’s hope and truth was the last thing I would see when I went to sleep and it was the first thing I saw in the morning when I awoke. There is power in truth and if you’re in a dark season you need that power.
Psalm 62:1-4–Truly my soul silently waits for God…He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not be greatly moved.
Deuteronomy 33:27–The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Isaiah 40: 28-31–God gives power to the weak and to those who have no might. He increases strength…those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not faint.
Joshua 1:9–…Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
There were two books that were helpful to me during my dark season:
When the Hurt Runs Deep by Kay Arthur
Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
What about you? What books or words of truth have been helpful for you during a dark season?
