This weekend about 5,000 moms will descend upon the town of Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to attend the Hearts at Home National conference.  My husband likes to say at the end of this weekend there won’t be any chocolate left in town!  That’s about true.  The Illinois State University students are on Spring Break and the moms are back in town!

You know there’s good and evil in this world.  When God is up to something big, the enemy doesn’t like it.  We see that spiritual warfare every time we get ready for a conference. This conference is no exception.

Already this week our Hearts at Home email has had technical issues, our registration process has had technical issues, and last night when we went to fill our rented U-Haul truck with hundreds of boxes of books, conference bags and more, the U-Haul truck had died and we had to go get another one.

What I have learned is that prayer makes a difference.  Prayer is how we participate in the spiritual battle that we cannot see with our eyes, but we know exists in this world.

There are moms coming this weekend that don’t know Jesus.  There are moms coming who have a broken heart.  There are moms who just need their mom batteries re-charged. There are moms who need hope, help, and humor!

There are also hundreds of details that need to run smoothly: logistics, meals, technical, transportation, communication, and more!

Will you pray?  Will you ask God to lead and guide all the details? Will you participate in a battle in the heavenlies here on this earth on your knees?

If you’re attending the conference, ask God to lead you on how to pray throughout the weekend.  He’ll show you if you’ll keep your heart and your eyes wide open.

If you’re not coming to the conference this weekend, ask God to bring to mind the things He wants you to pray for.
