Forgot to leave how I am imperfect…let me count the ways…Yesterday, I was in a bad mood for no good reason, and I was short and snippy with all of my kids. They received more consequences than they probably would have from me on a better-mood day. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have so much power in their lives…I so often misuse or abuse that power.
I’d love to share this book with my mom’s group NOW! This would be so great for the holiday season when we all try to be perfect and do too much! I have big and little non-perfect moments. Most recently it was AFTER school – “Mom, you forgot to put a drink in my lunch!” Ooops…..
I would love to preread this book. Sometimes I have it in my head that I am the perfect mom and have it all together. Then life happens, I have sick kids, the house is messy and I have no idea what to make for dinner. Then I end up feeling bad about myself. I want to be ok with being just ok and not perfect.
I would love to be a pre-reader. I often need reminders from my husband when the house work is way behind and I am exhausted that the work that I am doing that can’t be visually seen is the most important.
It’s hard to pick just one! Today it’s being frustrated and impatient far too often.
I posted this story on the No More Perfect Moms website; it’s one of the BIG examples of how I’m imperfect. My oldest daughter is not a complainer; she has siblings who are complainers and some of them have very real needs. I tend to grease the squeaky wheels. She mentioned a few times her leg hurting, but didn’t continue to mention it, so I discounted it until she began limping. A visit to her pediatrician resulted in a referral to a pediatric orthopedist THE NEXT DAY. That visit resulted in surgery THE NEXT DAY to repair the slipped growth plate in her hip. Our children’s forgiveness when we’ve blown it is almost as sweet as God’s.
