We all have days where we just feel like an ordinary mom. In fact, that’s most days for me.
Today’s Third Thursday Blog Hop topic recognizes that we all feel quite ordinary and at times we’d love to have someone “extra-ordinary” to help us. Who would that be for you?
My immediate thought is that I have someone extraordinary everyday…and so do you! We ordinary moms have a Super-Power available to assist us 24/7/365. God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and He’s everywhere we are. It doesn’t get much better than that! I love knowing that I’m not alone on this ordinary journey.
However, if I think about what Super Hero I’d like to help me, it would be the mom on the Incredibles. Her elastic body would come in so handy when I need to be in three places at once! Or when I’m on the first floor and I need something out of the bedroom on the second floor! Or when I hear a child misbehaving in the next room, but I’m not in a position to leave what I’m doing. Wouldn’t that be great to be in one room and have your arm reach into another one?
So what about you? What Super Power would you want to help you?
To add to our discussion, anyone who leaves a comment today will be entered into a drawing to win the Hearts at Home book, Ordinary Mom…Extraordinary God by Mary DeMuth. You can leave a comment through Sunday…I’ll draw a winner Monday morning! (If you’re reading this post in your email inbox, click here to leave a comment!)
Don’t forget this is a Blog Hop, so you can click on the Mr. Linky links below to hear from some other moms as well!
Super mom super powers make me think of Incredibles too….Mr. Linky is not working. It didn’t work for my post either. =(
It’s working now! For some reason it doesn’t work when I pre-post it. Soooo frustrating!
I would be great if I could have an “extra hand” that would pop out when needed. Good for doing my daughter’s hair while nursing my infant or giving a hug while making dinner.
Would a “Point of View” Gun from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, count as a super-power? It’d be nice if our kids could gain the perspective of the “Why” behind much of what we do…instead of having to wait until they’re older or parents to understand. 🙂 (entering the contest on behalf of my wife, who probably has a hidden super-power)
I don’t think she is necessarily a super hero, but I always thought it would be great to be Jeanie from I Dream of Jeanie. It would be great to be able to blink and make an entire sinkful of dirty dishes clean and put away in an instant!
Ooooo….I like that idea, Hollie!
I will feel like a super hero when God says ” A job well done, my good and faithful servant” because there are times when we do not feel like we are a super hero when parenting but we are trying so hard!
I would love to be Super Clone Mama- this way I do not miss my five’s sporting events while I am at work and night school:)
God, our Super Duper Hero! What a comfort and strength to know He will never leave us… Never.
Before I read your thoughts on “Mrs. Incredible,” I was totally thinking the same thing. I used to say that we should grow an extra set of arms with each child, but as my babies grow into teens, I’ve found that indeed, I did. How wonderful to watch and help them grow into responsible, kind human beings!
Blessings!
Super Hero? That’s easy – Finance Man…able to stretch my paycheck to the end of the month and beyond! Or maybe Wisdom Dog…able to see what is really going on in my kids’ hearts and minds when words just won’t cut it. Or maybe I could get Organizer Girl to stop by and completely declutter my home so I could start over. Actually, I’d like to have all three sent over….what time should I expect them?

I would have super hearing so I could listen and understand when 5 people are talking to me all at once.
Super hero? That’s easy. I would like to be a fraction of my Mother in law. God rest her soul. She had an amazing faith & spirit. She is my daily parenting inspiration.
I read this earlier today and have been thinking on it – I remember as a kid I always thought the “Super Woman” was the coolest. I don’t remember what her powers were, but her name was cool. now that I’m older, Miss Ruth would be my super hero. She was our VBS director, who traveled all over the state, and spent the summers providing VBS programs for small churches. To this day, I still think of her often and how she effected people.
I would want Bionic ears – to hear what my kids are talking about. But actually more so I can hear what the kids at school are saying to them.
I, too, immediately thought of Elastagirl…so practical! I even wished for that ability when I was a kid. Thought they stole my idea for the movie! And though she may not be a superhero, but Mrs. Potato Head from Toy Story 3 is great…would love to have that extra eye (apart from the ones on the back of my head!) that I could take off and stick under a door. Or better yet leave behind in a room and see what’s going on when I’m not there. It might be good for a laugh! On the other hand, maybe it’s good we can’t see everything…!!!
Boy, I had to be a super hero this week. I’ve been sick for 2 weeks and last week my hubby helped out tremendously, unfortunately this week, he was too busy to help and my oldest son came down with the same thing. Boy did I pray for strength and guess what…the Super Hero of all (GOD) gave me the strength I’ve needed. I’ve been able to accomplish all I needed to and take care of son and myself. Praise the best Super Hero of all.
I enjoyed this blog hop and my mommy powers!
I would like to have super hearing that can hear things gar away and when children are whispering so you know what’s going on from downstairs or 3 rooms away!
I want to be wonder woman! Able to always have the strength and energy I need! Isn’t it wonderful that God gives us the ability to have supernatural powers when we trust in Him!
If I could I would be Proverbs 31 Woman. That would be AWESOME!
My superpower would have to be unending energy — those super heroes never seem to need much rest!!
Mary Poppins!
